If the death occurs at home, your first step would be to contact a doctor. After this point, we will be given their permission to bring your loved one into our care. After this, we would ask you to call into your local branch to make the funeral arrangements or we can come to your home. You don’t have to wait until registering the death to do this. (Registering the death see below)
If the death occurs in a hospice, hospital or nursing home, simply call us directly and we will liaise with them.
If the death was sudden, accidental or unexpected then this will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal. This can mean a delay for making any firm arrangements however if you contact us as early as possible after death we can advise you further from there.
To register the death you must first have the death certificate issued to you, you should make an appointment at the registrar of your choice, they will advise you on what you need to take with you or if you call us we can also tell you how to go prepared.
If you have any questions or concerns, please call us. We are available 24 hours a day on 0131 653 6177.
